Hiretech Limited Awarded Prestigious Business Accolade

Aberdeenshire based energy industry equipment rental firm Hiretech Limited has been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

The company, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary, has been recognised for its excellence in international trade, demonstrating significant achievements in establishing business in export markets around the world.

Hiretech, which employs 25 members of staff at its headquarters in Fintray, by Aberdeen, has achieved significant overseas trade specifically across Africa, the Caspian, Norway and South East Asia.

The firm’s management team plans to continue to increase its foothold overseas, up to 40% towards its annual turnover, as part of wider strategic growth plans.

Commenting on the win, Andy Buchan, Hiretech CEO and founder, stated, “We are delighted to receive a Queen’s Award, it is a great honour and reflects the significant achievement of the business in export markets around the globe. It is tremendously satisfying to recognise that the rental equipment the Hiretech team designs, manufactures and services in Fintray, Aberdeenshire has worldwide demand.   This award reflects the hard work, enthusiasm and dedication the team employs to grow the business in international markets.”

Mr Buchan added, “We continually strive to provide a high level of service to our clients, building good relationships and acting upon the industry feedback they provide to us.  Significant investment in developing our product range to meet these industry demands has ensured that we have driven the growth of the company, despite challenging times over recent years.  I am so proud of what we have achieved in ten years of business.  To receive this accolade in our tenth anniversary year makes it even more special.”

Hiretech offers equipment rental and personnel supply to the energy and marine industries, to support hydraulics, well service, pipeline, chemical cleaning, decommissioning, subsea and renewable activities with a wide range of pumps, umbilical reels and ancillary equipment.

Hiretech is one of 220 organisations nationally to be recognised with the prestigious accolade. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses, recognising and celebrating business excellence across the UK.

This is the first Queen’s Award to be awarded to Hiretech, and will be presented to the firm by the Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire in the coming months, followed by a royal reception for Queen’s Awards winners at Buckingham Palace later in the year.

Shears Added To Hiretech Limited Rental Fleet

Hiretech has invested significantly to enhance its rental offering through the purchase of two shears with subsea, back deck and onshore cutting capabilities.

With the existing equipment range in place to support subsea cutting, the shears provide valuable assets to enhance the company’s capabilities in supporting heavy duty cutting operations.

Hiretech Limited Makes Significant Investment in Subsea Capabilities

Hiretech Limited has invested significantly in personnel and equipment to enhance its capabilities and offerings in the subsea and decommissioning sectors.

Duncan Duthie has recently joined the firm as Business Development Manager for Subsea and Decommissioning rentals.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Duthie said, “I am delighted to be joining Hiretech during a sustained period of growth and investment. Working with clients within the subsea sector is not new to the business, strong relationships already exist, therefore the foundations are in place to allow further development of the subsea capabilities and continued growth.  The opportunity to work within an organisation with unequalled levels of knowledge and capability is one I am very much looking forward to.”

Hiretech has also invested significantly to enhance its rental offering through the purchase of two shears with subsea, back deck and onshore cutting capabilities.  With the existing equipment range in place to support subsea cutting, the shears provide valuable assets to enhance the company’s capabilities in supporting heavy duty cutting operations.

Over the past two years, the company has invested over £3 million in its rental equipment fleet to ensure its offerings continue to meet evolving and demanding industry requirements.

Keith Mackie, Managing Director at Hiretech Limited commented “We are committed to continuing investment in new product lines throughout 2020 as we strive to support our clients during changing project requirements.  We want to remain at the forefront of the industry through the provision of reliable equipment developed and supported by a team of experienced and knowledgeable personnel.  This latest investment allows us to offer an expanded service to our clients.”

Hiretech Trainee Achieves Modern Apprenticeship Qualification

Adam Matthew today received his Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance certificate from Hiretech Managing Director, Keith Mackie.

Adam completed his HND in Engineering and his Modern Apprenticeship in conjunction with North East Scotland College Fraserburgh.

Interested in figuring out the workings of cars and mechanical equipment from a young age, Adam was inspired to follow a path in engineering where he could carve a career learning and developing further in a field he enjoys.

Now specialising within the Hiretech Transmissions Department, Adam continues to enjoy the hands on aspect of the job, being able to apply his skills and learning constantly.

Adam comments, “I have always been interested in how things work.  I really enjoy taking items to pieces, rebuilding them and get a great sense of achievement being able to get them working like new. I’m thoroughly enjoying my work within the Hiretech Transmissions Department, it has been a great experience and I’m learning a lot.  I’m really looking forward to a great future and sincerely thank Hiretech for supporting me throughout my apprenticeship.”

Hiretech Managing Director, Keith Mackie, added, “At Hiretech we recognise that investment in grassroots talent is important in order to maintain and develop skills within the industry.  Adam’s learning journey will very much continue as he gains experience across the many departments at Hiretech, from hands on engineering to project management.  This varied approach is valuable to our apprentices as it offers exposure and learning in many areas and also develops multiple skillsets, standing them in good stead for progression within the company in the future.”

Hiretech Limited Leaves The eu

Hiretech Limited officially left the EU on 15th July 2019.

Whilst the UK continues in its preparations to leave the EU, Hiretech has moved quickly to adopt the movement by ceasing to use its .eu registered domain.

The company, based at Fintray near Aberdeen, has been using the domain hiretech.eu to promote its online presence since the company was founded in 2010.  However, since the movement was passed for the UK to leave the EU, advice from the European Commission has stated that as of the withdrawal date, organisations that are established in the UK but not in the EU will no longer be eligible to register or renew .eu domain names.

This advice has remained changeable as Brexit discussions continue, with no certain outcome yet clear.   Hiretech has therefore taken a proactive approach to avoid future issues in the continuity of its operations as it continues to promote its services online to the world.

Andy Buchan, Chief Executive Officer at Hiretech, commented, “With the current uncertainty over the UK’s continued membership of the EU, we received notifications that we would not be permitted to use the .eu domain indefinitely in the event of Brexit.  Uncertainty is not good for business, therefore we took the decision to change over to the hiretech.rentals domain in a time frame that suits us.  It was important to get the deal done.”

Hiretech, an independent equipment rental, sales, service and maintenance company offering pumping spreads, powered umbilical reels, hydraulic power packs and supporting equipment, has invested over £1.5m in new equipment during 2018, with a similar level of investment ongoing throughout 2019.

Hiretech New Build Equipment To Expand Rental Fleet

Efforts continue towards expanding the Hiretech equipment rental fleet to meet client demand with a number of new build projects nearing final stages of completion in June.  An additional four Zone 1 Electric Hydraulic Power Packs are entering the final stages of completion at the company’s base at Fintray near Dyce, Aberdeen.  Additionally, a Zone 2 HD500 Well Service Pump is also nearing completion, built to include 3 3/8″ and 4.5″ fluid end options.  Staff at the Hiretech fabrication workshops have also started a number of additional Capex projects that will continue for the remainder of 2019.  The new equipment will be added to an expanding rental fleet which includes centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, powered umbilical reels, hydraulic power packs and supporting equipment.
