Sustainability

Our Strategy

Hiretech is committed to implementing a company culture that instils sustainability at the heart of our business operations and decision-making processes.

Our established Integrated Management System certified by DNV GL reflects our existing compliance with ISO standards 9001, 14001 and 45001.

Beyond this, we have selected and adopted goals from the 17 internationally recognised United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to further support our sustainability efforts.

Sustainable Development Goals

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.

At its heart are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.

Hiretech has adopted a number of these goals as a primary focus towards achieving sustainability.

Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
Encouraging companies to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle. By 2030, aim to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and re-use, and to also ensure that people are educated and aware of sustainable development in their lifestyles in harmony with nature.

Goal 13 – Climate Action

Integrating climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning whilst also improving education, awareness-raising and human capacity on climate change mitigation, adaption, impact reduction and early warning.

Goal 14 – Life Below Water
Preventing and significantly reducing marine pollution of all forms, from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution. This goal seeks to minimise and address the impacts of ocean acidification, including through enhanced scientific cooperation at all levels.

Goal 15 – Life on Land
Reduce the degradation of natural habitats, halt the loss of biodiversity, and protect the extinction of threatened species by funding biodiversity and ecosystem conservation and sustainability. This goal also aims to integrate ecosystem and biodiversity values into national and local planning, development processes, poverty reduction strategies and accounts.

We will also seek to incorporate additional goals into our company culture, including:

Goal 5 - Gender Equality

Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy

Goal 9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Decarbonisation Plan

Within the UK, emissions are targeted to be reduced by 78% by 2035 with a goal of being target neutral in the UK by 2050. Scotland has a more ambitious target of being carbon neutral by 2045.

Hiretech has developed a decarbonisation plan to determine our carbon footprint, help provide a deeper understanding about the Scope 1 emissions we are directly responsible for as a business, and to enable us to set targets to help achieve reductions where applicable.
